In April the Equestrian Center kicked off
the official show season with the first
Gymkhana Play Day event on Friday evening,
April 25th. Stacy Soulis is now
in charge of this event. Her goal was to
make this year’s event fun and different by
adding some new games and activities. By
the looks on the faces of those who
participated it seems everyone had a great
time.
Gymkhana games are speed events or timed
events on horse back. They can be anything
as familiar as barrel racing and pole
bending to the less familiar slow race or
any other game that has a starting point, a
finish line and some sort of obstacle to
get through, around, land on, or get in and
out of. Stacy will be adding her own flare
to these games with events such as the team
ribbon race, red light, green light and the
water cup race. Come ride or watch on
Friday, May 30th. Games begin at
6 p.m.
Our
annual Mother’s Day horse show was, once
again, a huge success. I sound like a
broken record. If you go back over the
previous June articles I have written over
the years, most likely you will find I have
repeated this introduction year after year.
The Yosemite Lakes Park Mother’s Day horse
show event has become a Mother’s Day
tradition for some valley and mountain
residents. We look forward to seeing those
same familiar faces come back every year.
This year thirty-four riders participated.
Hi-point winners took home a tote bag full
of horse supplies purchased by Steve and
Kathy Roussin and their partner Craig
McMillen from Western Water Consultants. We
extend a huge thank you to them for their
support. For our annual Mother’s Day raffle
Tiffany Lynch supplied two Mary Kay gift
sets, Doug and Tammi Lundberg offered up a
saddle blanket and a $25 True Value gift
certificate and Sharon Collier provided a
free equine massage for one lucky mom who
attended that day. Join us again on June 8th
where we will celebrate Father’s Day.
